Each collection is chosen by hand. Nothing here is ranked: these are invitations, not league tables.

• Earlier Generations

  Classical musicians of earlier generations, no longer living. Ordered by editorial standing — the tier recorded for each musician, with its sourced reasoning — then by birth year. Membership is by era; the ordering is an editorial judgement, open to correction.

• Contemporary Musicians

  Musicians whose performing, recording or teaching work is documented as current. Ordered by editorial standing — the tier recorded for each musician, then by birth year — so foundational figures read first. Membership here is a statement of activity, not of merit.

• Hindi Film Music

  Hindi film music within Indian film music, beginning with Madan Mohan's scores of the 1960s and the singers and lyricists credited on them. Coverage of other Indian languages and regional cinema is queued for research.
