Biography
Life
Raghunandan Panshikar was born on 14 March 1963 in Mumbai, into a family of Sanskrit scholars and classical musicians. He is the son of the Marathi stage actor and producer Prabhakar Panshikar.
He began formal study of music in Mumbai at the age of eleven, learning for two years from Vasantrao Kulkarni. From the age of seventeen he trained with Kishori Amonkar of the Jaipur-Atrauli gharana over the next twenty to twenty-two years, and during that time was also guided by her mother, Mogubai Kurdikar.
He has performed across India as well as in Europe, the United States and the Middle East, and has recorded for labels including Saregama, Times Music and Sony Music. His awards include the Manik Varma Puraskar, the Upadhye Smriti Puraskar and the Ramkrishnabua Vaze Puraskar.
