Biography
Life
Satish Vyas was born on 16 November 1952, the son of the Hindustani vocalist Pandit C. R. Vyas. He grew up inside a vocal household but took up the santoor, and from 1978 he studied the instrument with Pandit Shivkumar Sharma.
He has performed widely in India and abroad, including at the Saptak Annual Festival in Ahmedabad and at the Aga Khan Museum in Toronto in 2019 for the Raag-Mala Music Society. He lives in Chembur, Mumbai. He has received the Padma Shri, and was given the Tansen Samman at the Tansen Samaroh in Gwalior on 26 December 2020.
Musical contribution
What they brought to music
